About Juice

Our juice business offers orange, lime and lemon juice – and associated by-products.

When citrus fruit is processed, nothing is wasted. Juice is extracted, oils are recovered and all remaining pulp is transformed into food grade dried peel for pectin extraction or citrus-pulp pellets for cattle feed.

The energy- and fiber-rich pellets are used as an animal feed ingredient, and the oil essences and aromas are primarily used by the flavor and fragrance industries, to which we are a major supplier.

We also produce dried peel from our ripe oranges, lemon and lime. This is used for pectin extraction. Pectin is sold on to the food industry as a gelling agent, thickening agent and stabilizer in food.

Brazil and the US are the main producers of orange juice. Although its main market is the EU, Brazil accounts for most of the North American consumption through exports, even with a local production of around 50% in the state of Florida. Several other countries also relies on Brazilian production, and consumption growth is greatest in emerging markets.

Our Strengths in Brazil

Operating in Brazil for over 30 years, our Juice Platform has a strong presence in the country. LDC’s juice operation are fully integrated, with over 25,000 hectares of sustainably grown citrus groves – strategically located across the country’s Citrus belt – as well as three citrus juice plants and a cutting-edge juice terminal at the Port of Santos.

Not only does our Brazilian juice operations span the entire value chain, it includes a range of fruits, such as orange, lemon and lime in its portfolio. The fruits are transformed into high quality, sustainable and traceable juice targeting the FCOJ (frozen concentrate orange juice) and NFC (not from concentrate) orange juice markets.

We also market fresh oranges and lemons, as well as specialty by-products such as citrus fruit essential oils, terpenes, dried and washed peel, as well as citrus pulp pellets (CPP).

Committed to Sustainability

As a fundamental element of our juice production strategy, we have built sustainable solutions into our operations across the juice value chain. Some examples of our efforts and results:

  • 84% of LDC Juice farms certified by the Rainforest Alliance and verified as SAI Platform Gold Grade
  • Rigorous conservation plans to preserve biodiversity and protect wildlife and native vegetation
  • Zero waste in fruit processing
  • Continuous training for our teams
  • LDC is recognized by Fundação Abrinq as a child-friendly company, for its 20-year partnership with Alfredo Naime School
